98 700XC track?

Can I put a 1 3/4 track on 700xc? Tried and ran into clearance issues. Lugs above track clips touch radiators. Putting a 136 suspension on sled. Thought about smaller drivers on axel or notching lugs. Any ideas?

Some say that you can squeeze a 1 3/4" in there if you notch for the coolers, others says 1.5-1.6" (also notched) is max.
